There's no going around the fact that because it has no tabs, Colibri can't compete with other browsers when it comes to multi-tasking. It can however make you more productive and more immersed in certain situations that don't require more than 1 web page to be at your disposal.
Colibri is a modern web browser that's powered by Chromium. It's also built with Electron. To be more precise, the app pops up the Default apps setting window to make it easier for the users to set it as their default app for the protocol.
It is worth mentioning that neither updates to Microsoft Edge or quality updates for Windows will reset the aforementioned configuration. Nevertheless, you should bear in mind that major updates and OS upgrades may change the settings, but luckily neither occur very often.
Despite the numerous attempts of forcing Edge on users and the improvements, the vast majority of users still do not want to touch it.
